Ellerslie Experience comes to town
In four days, Christchurch will launch a new brand for the Ellerslie International Flower Show and open the Ellerslie Experience – an exhibition which will provide Christchurch residents and visitors to our city with a taste of the internationally recognised event which Christchurch will host from March 2009.
A stunning new brand has been developed to give the 2009 Ellerslie International Flower Show a southern flavour – and this will be unveiled on 11 March when the city opens the Ellerslie Experience on the Archery Lawn in the Botanic Gardens. The exhibition will be open to the public from 12 to 25 March, 9am to 6pm daily.
The Ellerslie International Flower Show will be a spectacular event for this city, drawing on our rich cultural heritage and celebrating the city’s international reputation as New Zealand’s premier Garden City.
The Ellerslie Experience begins our one-year countdown to the Ellerslie International Flower Show being held in the city. This magnificent exhibition garden – Earth Sharing Life – takes the visitor on a journey promoting the concept that the earth provides all and that humankind must nurture the earth.
A multiple gold award-winner at last year’s Ellerslie International Flower Show, it is a spectacular example of the standard of excellence exhibited at past shows and the calibre of exhibit expected at the next flower show to be held in Christchurch in 2009, from 11 to 15 March.
Sustainability is the key theme for the garden, challenging us all to take an individual responsibility in restoring and preserving the environment for future generations. We are asked to consider the legacy and footprints we leave behind on earth. It is a truly awe-inspiring exhibition. Christchurch and Canterbury residents and visitors to our city will have 14 days to view the exhibit. Admission is $2 per person or $5 for a family.
Christchurch has recommitted to its image as the Garden City and is beginning to develop an event which will be recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious garden shows.
I encourage you all to visit this incredibly amazing exhibition. It will give you an appreciation of the importance the Ellerslie International Flower Show will have in enhancing our Garden City image and a taste of the excitement this internationally recognised event will bring to Christchurch.
Regards
BOB PARKER
